Joe Astrauckas received a BBA from The University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business with a double major in Real Estate and Finance and an MBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.  Joe has over 20 years of successful real estate experience in which he has worked with private equity firms and hedge funds to acquire distressed real estate assets and liquidate them profitably.

While in business school, Joe was involved in over 80 REIT formations while working at REIT Funding LLC, a boutique investment bank that places preferred equity for privately held REITS. After REIT Funding, Joe worked at Turnstone Group LLC, as Vice President and Director of Asset Management where he oversaw the investment management team and was instrumental in starting the monetization of Turnstone’s $700MM investment portfolio, which consisted of tens of thousands of both raw acres and vacant developed lots, as well as a portfolio of single-family residential homes and various commercial assets.  Post Turnstone, Joe was a Vice President at Colony American Finance, a subsidiary of Colony Capital, LLC a real estate private equity firm with over $54 billion invested worldwide.  

Most recently, Joe was Vice President for the Ornstein-Schuler Companies, where he directed the management and disposition of their investment portfolio across several asset classes including raw land, multi-family, office, and residential homes.  He also oversaw all new acquisitions, including site selection, financial analysis, due diligence, and asset strategy.  

Currently, Joe is Managing Director of Fortem Holdings LLC, a family office and private equity investment platform that makes strategic investments in several different sectors of real estate, healthcare, car washes, home building, insurance, and construction services, and alternative investments including, state film tax credits and tax equity investments. 

Joe has a wife and three children and is a gourmet cook with a love of golf, music, and saltwater fishing.
